The diagnostic essay should also be an opportunity for the student to show the admissions office why they would be a good match for the college. To write a diagnostic essay, you will first need to decide what kind of essay you want to write. There are four general types: short essay, an overview essay, technical essay, and persuasive essay. Each of these types of essays has its own requirements that the student should meet in order to compose the best essay possible. Regardless of which type of essay you choose, it is important to follow the steps below in order to make sure your diagnostic essay turns out the way you had planned. The first step to wr iting a diagnostic essay is to decide which question you would like answering. For example, if you are asking whether or not your personal essay needs to focus on something, then you may be considering focusing on one specific topic. Or, if you have a general question about personal issues, you may be considering addressing a range of different areas. After you decide on the topic that you would like to write about, you need to ask yourself several questions to determine what information you need to include in your diagnostic essay. How long are you allowed to spend on a single paragraph? What specific criteria do you need to measure for your diagnostic essay?Once you know what you need to accomplish, you can begin writing about the solutions you believe you will find to the problems you will diagnose problems with. You can research the problem you are writing about by looking at pictures, hearing about the problem from others, or by analyzing the problem in written form. You can use the information you gather as the basis for a number of diagnostic strategies. If you were asked to write about the insides of a pancreas, for example, you could begin by testing for pancreas cells. Or, if you were asked to diagnose a problem with the digestive system, you might analyze the workings of the esophagus, stomach, or mouth, among other areas. In each case, your diagnostic strategy should involve finding correlations between the problem and the digestive system.Once you have established a diagnostic strategy, you can begin writing about how the correlation between the two systems affects a person. You can ask questions about the relationship between food and digestion or between the two systems and the immune system. You can discuss a person's feeling of fullness or comfort after eating and how the digestive system affects that. You can explain what type of food a person might eat and how that would affect their digestion. In your diagnostic essay, you should include a lot of information. Every single paragraph should be focused on some aspect of the two systems. The only way to tell if you have done a good job is to see if your own instincts to match up with the data you have gathered.
